CONFIRMED: Yanga Part Ways With Two Players

Tanzania Mainland Premier League champions Yanga has parted ways with strikers Chico Ushindi and Yacouba Sogne, the club has confimed.

Ushindi joined Yanga in January from TP Mazembe and signed a two-year deal with the club, while Sogne on the other hand joined the Citizens from Ghanaian side Asante Kotoko.

Sogne is now set to join another Tanzanian side Geita Gold, who will be representing the country in the next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Yanga spokesperson Haji Manara confirmed the departure of the two strikers after the club completed the summers transfer signings.

“Many of you will wonder why we have 14 foreign players and the regulations only require 12 foreign players. Our players that we will not have for the next season for foreign players are Chico Ushindi and Yacouba Sogne after the agreement of both sides,” Haji said on Tuesday.

Ushindi and Sogne join Said Ntibanzokiza who has left the club on mutual consent.

Sogne had come as a replacement of Bernard Morrison who has since returned to the club after parting ways with Simba SC.

The Burkina Faso international looked like a world class at his time at Asante Kotoko, but he’s looked unconfident and out of place in Yanga in the past two seasons.

In his prime at Porcupine Warriors, the forward helped the Kumasi based clubs reach the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in eleven years.

His exploits back then attracted interest from several clubs across the continent including Orlando Pirates and two other Egyptian clubs, Zamalek and Smouha FC.
