Could This be the end for Demba Ba?

Demba Ba, a 31-year-old former Chelsea striker, suffered a horrific, and career-threatening injury on July 10^th in a Chinese derby match between his Shanghai Greenland Shenhua and Shanghai SIPG.

SIPG’s Sun Xiang was trying to recover the ball when he accidentally hit and twisted Ba’s foot.

The Senegalese international who also played for Newcastle and Westham has been having his best season so far. He is the current top scorer in the Chinese Super League with 14 goals in 18 appearances this season.

His coach, Gregorio Manzano said in a postgame conference that the injury  was “horrendous.”

He added: “it could end Ba’s professional career. I would rather lose a game than lose Ba; He is too good to have this happen to him.”

No further reports have been made, but we hope this is not the last we’ve seen from the sensational striker.
