Court of Arbitration Postpone Ruling on Wydad’s Appeal

The Court of Arbitration for Sport have rescheduled a ruling on an appeal case lodged by Moroccan league giants Wydad Athletic Club.

The Court of Arbitration for Sports has rescheduled a ruling on an appeal case lodged by Moroccan league giants Wydad Athletic Club.

A verdict had been slated to be passed Thursday afternoon in which Wydad were to know the outcome of their complaint against CAF’s decision to declare Esperance winners of the previous edition of the African Champions League.

CAF had delayed giving Tunisian heavyweights Esperance the prize money after being crowned tournament winners back-to-back on a refereeing decision.

The referee considered Esperance winners having failed to convince Wydad to complete the Champions League final game who were furious over a disallowed goal they believed was an equaliser.

A stand-off soon ensued when organisers fell short of judging the disallowed goal over the unavailability of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Wydad later opted against continuing the game, matching out of the pitch prompting CAF into making a decision, a verdict the Moroccans are seeking to be rescinded by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The Lausanne-based court had been billed to deliver a judgment Thursday before postponing it to end of October.
