Zambia striker Patson Daka is upbeat ahead of the Thursday 17 November international friendly against Israel.
The Chipolopolo, who are currently camping in Tel Aviv, will face the Blue and Whites at the Hanmosheva Stadium on Thursday evening as part of preparations for the back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Lesotho in March next year.
The Leicester City star was speaking after Chipolopolo’s last training session where he said the friendly match will help the team gel more for the national duty.
“We are going to do our very best and use this challenge as preparation as for what we want to do going forward. One must look at the group we have, I think we have a very good group and must just stick together looking at everyone we have confidence in each other,” Daka told FAZ Media.
“Everyone is doing great at their clubs, this is a great opportunity for us to have that confidence, we trust each other and believe in each other’s qualities. This is a great time for us to come together to represent our country because everyone looks forward to these moments and I think this is the time to give our fans what they deserve.”
Chipolopolo are second in Group H of the qualifiers with three points while Lesotho are at the bottom of table with one point from two matches.
However, Daka says players are eager to bury the disappointments of the past and focus on qualifying for the next year’s Nations Cup that will be hosted in Ivory Coast.
“Looking at the situation right now where we did not qualify for the world cup, I think it is also important that we have this high-profile friendly game. I think it is what everyone was looking forward to and everyone is excited about because everyone wants to play against such kind of teams.”
