Dame N’Doye Axed from Senegal’s AFCON Squad, Accuses Coach of Dishonesty

Denmark-based striker Dame N’Doye has lost his place in the Senegalese national team bound for Egypt after falling out with the gaffer.

Denmark-based striker Dame N’Doye has lost his place in the Senegalese national team bound for Egypt after falling out with the gaffer.

The 34-year-old made the headlines for the wrong reasons this week after coach Aliou Cisse’s claims he snubbed the former Hull City goal-getter because he had an eye for the Taranga Lions’ captaincy.

The arm-band is fastened by Liverpool’s Sadio Mane since Cisse took over the Lions’ managerial seat.

And being the most senior striker in the setup, N’Doye is believed to have made demands to be given the leadership role – a thing Cisse is reported to have rejected.

Cisse went public about the saga, prompting a reaction from Copenhagen’s Dame who accused the coach of dishonesty.

“I never asked for the captain armband. These things do not interest me. I told Aliou Cisse that I would like to play my favorite role,” he tells Canal+.

“It was during his trip to Le Havre in 2015. He went on to say that I was demanding the captaincy. I do not think of the team but people must learn to be honest,” he says.
