Determine Girls coach Robert Lartey has stocked flames ahead of their CAF Women’s Champions League Group A games set to start in Morocco this afternoon.
The Liberian champions were pooled against Morocco’s ASFAR, Simba Queens of Tanzania and Green Buffaloes from Zambia.
Lartey says his charges are in high spirits ahead of the competition where they will open the campaign against Green Buffaloes tonight.
“At this level, there are no more small teams. We deserve our place. We are extremely ambitious and we will fight for the final victory. This is our main objective,” the coach said.
Determine Girls captain Magaret Steward said the team is in a better shape and they are ready to fight at the top stage.
“With the coach, we worked a lot. There were many video sessions. We are ready and can’t wait to start the competition,” said Steward.
Green Buffaloes coach Charles Halubono is not in any way lost on the difficulty of the task ahead.
The Zambians are not just about to play the giant-killers t, but more, a defeat could put them in a difficult position in their quest for the knockout stages of the competition.
“This match will be our first ever against Determine Girls. I don’t know the strengths and weaknesses of this team. But I know the strengths of my team,” said Halubono.
“We are a counterattack team, we like to have space. We have a plan, it’s up to us to put it in place. We know we are very expected, since our victory against the Mamelodi Sundowns, this pressure is an integral part of the world of football, and it is up to us to manage it in a very professional way.”
Determine Girls made history by becoming the first Liberian women’s club team to qualify for the continental Women’s Champions League.
