Power Dynamos Headlines Zambian Super League

Season followers of the Zambian Super League are in for a treat this term as Power Dynamos outlines its plan to gatecrash the title race.

The Aba Yellows last tasted title glory six years ago when they ousted Red Arrows to claim the staked prize but this year, they’re eyeing a repeat of the feat and pundits aren’t ruling out a close fight to the end.

The Arthur Davies Stadium outfit – the first Southern African club to win the CAF Champions League in 1991 – is hell bent on pulling off a huge upset this campaign as it fronts the Zambian League.

Dynamos slalomed past Nkana 2-1 in a thrilling all-Kitwe derby. Striker Matin Phiri, was the go-to-guy for Power, poking in an equalizer after Nkana had gone ahead through a Shadreck Musonda 18th minute screamer that left Dynamos’ defense smacked.

Phiri again delivered a master class act later in the game to complete a brace, handing Power all points. The victory temporary placed Dymanos top of the table log – equal on points with Lusaka Dynamos on 20 each – and on the path of claiming a seventh league title.

The MTN-sponsored Championship looks to be a heated affair with up to nine clubs; Lusaka, Dynamos, title holders Zanaco, ZESCO United, Green Buffaloes, NAPSA Stars, Forest Rangers, Red Arrows, and Nkwazi, pursuing for the title with already 10 games played.

The battle between Green Eagles and NAPSA Stars ended one-all as Mufillira Wanderers breezed past Red Arrows 2-1 with Nkambala Leopards drawing Buildcon goalless.

Nkwazi pounded Nchanga Rangers 2-0 as Forest Rangers also managed a similar score against Konkola Blades, in other games on Sunday.

Green Buffaloes drew Kabwe Warriors 2-2 just as the result between City of Lusaka and Real Nakonde.
