Egypt’s Javelin thrower Ihab Abdelrahman is scheduled to meet his country’s sports officials to discuss possibilities of his qualification to the 2020 Olympics.
The 30-year-old was slapped with a four-year ban by the World Anti-Doping Agency on basis of testing positive of a banned substance which he’s alleged to have used to enhance his performance.
He had been billed to pick a medal during the 2016 Olympics but got stripped of the honour owing to the detected substance in his samples.
A second test was prompted which, to his dismay then, turned positive leading WADA into slapping a further twenty-four months suspension in punitive measures culminating in a four-year ban.
Undeterred, Egypt challenged the decision with evidence – a version the anti-doping body accepted and lifted the ban.
The news comes as a huge sigh of relief for Ihab whose character was being muddied and previous performances questioned as uncertainty lingered over his head.
Abdelrahman has set the ground running on proving doubters wrong forthwith and his eyes fixed on next year’s Olympics in Japan.
The two-time gold winner, boasting four silver and a bronze attained in 2007, is scheduled to meet officials of his nation to help him in his crusade to achieve his set out objective.
This meeting, occurring behind closed doors, will also include a delegate from WADA.
