Granada’s Uche Agbo was overwhelmed and knelt in prayer after hearing news of his selection to the Nigeria Super Eagles.
The midfielder-turned defender is summoned to fill in the void created by Germany-based Leon Balogun who is ruled out with an injury.
The 20-year-old is invited along with Watford’s attacker and former club mate Isaac Success, also another first-timer.
The former Nigeria U-20 ace, a natural defensive midfielder, is converted to a defender by the La Liga side where he’d excelled and will play in the same role for Nigeria ahead of their World Cup qualifier game against Zambia.
“The coach called me up to inform me of my invitation,” he said.

Uche’s invitations offers gaffer Gernot Rohr plenty option at his disposal in defense and the Granada man knows he will have to fight tooth and nail to force his way into the German’s plans and looks buoyed for the clash.

Both of us have longed to play for the Eagles and as it were, we were called up the same time.’[/perfectpullquote]
Fitness isn’t expected to be an issue for Uche who has been phenomenal in the Laliga side’s back-line featuring in five of their six matches.
