Moroccan striker Walid Azarou is the subject of overtures from a top flight side in England.
Azarou is making heads turn in Egypt after setting a new record this week, becoming the highest scoring foreign player in the Presentation-sponsored league.
The 22-year-old is domestic championship’s top scorer having raked in a combined 19 goals in the division as club side Al Ahly stormed to their 41st title.
His performances haven’t gone unnoticed with clubs in Europe now beginning to take particulate interest in the Moroccan international.
A certain unnamed big-name English outfit is reported to have jumped in front of the queue this week in the race for the goal-getter’s services.
An offer in the region of 7m euros has been lodged by the player’s suitors for Al Ahly Sporting Club to release the forward at end of the current campaign.
Chairman Mahmoud El Katib is understood to be digging his heels over entertaining any discussions over his star asset too soon in an effort to weigh which moneybags will be willing to meet in his 10m valuation for the striker.
Azarou is believed to be reluctant to exit Ahly this term as he has a contract until 2021. That however could change if any of his admirers match Katib’s price tag.
The Atlas Lions’ attacker is one of the continent’s hottest goal-poachers with an amazing goal-ratio per game.
Of the 21 league matches he’d played, he has netted 19 times. The last time Walid featured for the Cairo giants without getting on the score sheet was nine months ago against Saudi Arabia’s Al Faisaly in the Arab Cup. Since then, the lanky Moroccan has banged the net 17 times the last eighteen games.
