Enyimba International are reportedly looking for a fee in region of €1million to part ways with star attacker Anayo Iwuala.
The 22-year-old has been in scintillating form for the People’s Elephants this season, and reports suggest that this could be his final few months in the NPFL.
Sources at the club indicate Iwuala attracted interest from Russian club FC Rostov and Danish outfit Midtjylland in August 2020, but Enyimba decided to hold on to him for the second half of the season.
Ducor Sports has confirmed at the time that the two clubs had shown interest, and in addition, an offer believed to be around € 600,000 was on the table for the young attacker.
Now given the latest developments, it’s unclear if any of the above mentioned clubs will be willing to match Enyimba’s asking price or come even closer to matching it come July.
In recent years, Enyimba have appeared reluctant to sell their star players to European clubs, and given some club officials’ statements that Iwuala should stay in the NPFL for at least another season before considering a move to Europe, chances are that Iwuala could find himself playing in Nigeria for another season.
So, if Enyimba don’t cash in on Iwuala this year, chances are that he will also leave for free come next year provided he doesn’t sign a new contract with the former African champions in the near future.
The Super Eagles winger has scored two times in 12 league appearances for the People’s Elephants.
