Equatorial Guinea Appoint Sebastien Migne As New Head Coach

The Equatorial Guinea Football Association (FEGUIFUT) has appointed Frenchman Sebastien Migne as the national team manager.

The Equatorial Guinea Football Association (FEGUIFUT) has appointed Frenchman Sebastien Migne as the national team manager.

The 46-year-old was appointed on Thursday to take over the position left by Daniel Guindos who departed the team for personal reasons in October after just three weeks on the job.

Migne arrived in the country on Wednesday for his official meeting with the FEGUIFUT officials prior to taking the national team reigns.

“I’m the new Head Coach of Equatorial Guinea,” the Frenchman posted on his Facebook page.

Migne previously coached Kenya national team, a position that he left in mid-August after failing to help Kenya reach the knockout phase of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

His choice put to an end to speculation over the role, which sparked nationwide debate on the who was the best-suited candidate.

Migne’s first major task will be to lead the Nzalang Nationale to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Equatorial Guinea will begin their qualification campaign away against Tanzania in November 15 before welcoming Tunisia four days later in Malabo.

Equatorial Guinea are in Group J of the qualifiers alongside Tunisia, Libya and Tanzania.
