Uganda Premier League giants KCCA are working hard behind the scenes to keep one of their big players at Lugogo beyond the end of his contract.
The striker’s current deal runs out on June 6 and with KCCA taking note of his contribution and potential they are keen to tie him down.
Ducor Sports has been informed that discussions about a new deal have been initiated between the club and the player’s camp.
“Discussions are ongoing about the renewal of Erisa Ssekisambu’s contract with KCCA,” confirmed the source.
Azam FC is believed to be one of the clubs monitoring the striker’s situation at the Kampala outfit with interest.
“There is interest in the player from Azam FC. The club is aware of the player’s situation, and other opportunities are there for him to decide,” concluded the source.
Ssekisambu joined KCCA from Gor Mahia ten months ago and found it easy to establish himself in the first team.
The 24-year-old forward featured in 18 matches for the former Uganda Premier League champions in the just-concluded season.
KCCA are been reported to have parted ways with several players including midfielders Sadam Juma, Muzamir Mutyaba, as well as forward Mike Mutyaba, goalkeeper Jamal Malyamungu, and winger Simon Serunkuma.
The club is keen on holding onto Ssekisambu to keep a strong team for coach Mike Mutebi.
On Tuesday, the experienced gaffer was quoted by Daily Monitor stating that the club is in the process of acquiring replacements with Charles Lwanga, Ashraf Mugume, Pius Obua, and Bright Anukani among the prospects.
