FC Esae Executive Director Quentin Divadi has thanked the clubs fans for their overwhelming support to the playing squad in the 4-3 CAF Confederation Cup win over Generation Foot.

The Beninese side showed class dominating the entire game, with Cerif Bayo scoring the all-important goal to force the game into post-match penalties after a 1-1 aggregate draw.

In a statement posted on the club social media accounts, Divadi says he was moved by the huge crowd that attended the match and also urged the fans to stick with the team for longer as they prepare to represent Benin in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages.

“I thank the fans for showing up in large numbers to support our team and I would urge them to continue doing so, so that we can give our players the morale they need, “reads part of the statement as translated from French.

Esae went for pace in attack from the start but they had to wait until he 42nd minute of the game when Bayo opened the scoring with a neat finish after slicing through the defence from Tercious Macel.

No goals arrived afterwards as the contest went for the post-match penalties where Esae hit the back of the net four times with the Senegalese side only managing to get three behind the net.

The Esae University sponsored side will now go into Sunday’s draw, hoping to continue their strong run on the competition.
