Ex-Cameroon Star Struggling To Make Ends Meet

Former Cameroon national team striker Mohammed Idrisou is now homeless and broke after being kicked out by a friend he has been squatting with for past four months.

According to a source close to the player, Idrisou has been club-less since he left Austrian side FC Kufstein after being arrested over lack of a residence permit.

His career blossomed in 2001/2002 season while he was still playing for former Bundesliga side SC Freiberg as he went on to represent the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The 40-year-old player’s career took a nosedive a year later after he was sentenced to pay more than € 20,000 as child support for his children.

In the same year as the ruling, his former fiancée accused him of cutting her credit cards and two handbags.

Previously, Idrisou had turned down lucrative offers from Barcelona and Manchester City in favour of a stay in Germany. But he struggled to obtain a regular place at Hannover 96 which led to his move to MSV Duisburg.

The former Indomitable Lions player’s problems have been endless though recently he was active after switching from third-class FC Kufstein to DSV Leoben in the fourth division in 2018.

The move was in a hope to take his career to greater heights but court battles saw him get into prison and sell off his black Porsche Panamera and now goes on foot.

“At the moment it looks like he is down and out and he is looking for a way to get back to Cameroon as he has been kicked out by a friend he has been squatting with,” said a source.

“People have been ridiculing him because he was apparently gloating about a big house he was renting before,” the source added.

Asked for a comment, Idrisou said: “I’m not prepared to talk now. I’ll call you when am ready.”

During an illustrious 9-year career in the Bundesliga, he pocketed millions of pounds in wages, lived in a mansion and drove flashy cars.

With a limited education, Idrisou is now paying the price for being unaware of his financial situation.
