Zambia international Fashion Sakala scored his first goal for Rangers in a pre-season friendly against Real Madrid on Sunday.
Sakala, who transferred from Belgian club KV Oostende in May, slotted past Andriy Lunin in the 55th minute at the Ibrox Stadium to make it 1-1 before Cedric Itten scored the winner with ten minutes remaining to the end of the match.
Luka Jovic Rodrygo scored the lone goal for Madrid in the 8th minute when he showed super skill after collecting ball from Odegaard, and from an acute angle, found the bottom far corner to beat Allan McGregor.
Thousands of fans attended the match at Ibrox, as the Light Blues set sights on a capacity crowd for their return to the Champions League next month, something that excited Sakala.
“I was very excited and I’m very happy to play in the presence of the fans,” he said.
“I was surprised yesterday by the noise [of the fans] but my teammates have said that I need to wait until the stadium is full and that I haven’t seen how they bounce, so I am waiting for that!
“My teammates are making things a little easier for me, the support I am receiving from the team and the technical staff makes me feel more comfortable.”
Sakala joined Rangers on a four-year-deal after an impressive season for KV Oostende where he netted 13times in their impressive season in the Belgian top-flight.
The 24-year-old moved to Oostende from Spartak Moscow three years ago and has netted 26 goals in 90 appearances in all competitions.
He has scored once in 11 caps for Zambia, having made his international debut in September 2017.
