Fasil Kenema Striker Mujib Kassim Set For JS Kabylie Move

Algerian giants JS Kabylie are set to sign striker Mujib Kassim from Ethiopia Premier League champions Fasil Kenema.

The Soccer Ethiopia reports that the Lions of Djurdjura are set to complete the signing of the Emperors attacker, who proved to be a key figure in Fasil Kenema’s success last season.

Kassim made 18 starts under coach Seyoum Kebede as the Emperors won their maiden EPL title, and his proposed move to Algeria does not come as a surprise.

The 25-year-old is expected in the northern African country in the next few days to seal his contract after passing a medical last week and agreeing terms with the last season’s CAF Confederation Cup finalists.

The striker’s contract length and the size of the fee agreed has yet to filter through, but a source at the Algeria side has informed Ducor Sport that it will be a two-year-deal.

Kassim’s future at Fasil had been a subject of speculation for long as he had previously been linked to Fasil rivals St George as well as South Africa top-flight sides Amazulu and Goldern Arrows.

Kassim, a native of Aleta Wondo, bagged 20 goals of the 38 scored by the club from Gondar in the recently concluded 2020/21 season.

The former Sidama Coffee, Hawassa Ketema and Adama Ketema centre back turned forward joined Fasil Kenema two seasons ago.

Meanwhile, Ethiopia Premier League new season will kick off in October 17 and the fixtures have been arranged to accommodate international match days basing on how Ethiopia in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.
