Galatasaray and Algeria attacker Sofiane Feghouli says a win in their opening African Cup of Nations match will be key if they are to perform well in the tournament.

The North Africans will take on Kenya in the opening match at Air Defense stadium in Cairo on 23rd June.

Feghouli is already looking forward to the match against Kenya who will be making a comeback to the biannual tournament after a 15-year absence.

In an interview, Feghouli said his side is ready for the tournament and highlighted the importance of winning their opening game against the East Africans.

“I am convinced we are ready. The first match of the group is always important to win to start the competition,” he told Algeria FA website.

The former Valencia and West Ham FC man further stated that his team will be out to win the tournament and that they are not afraid of any team in the competition.

“In any case, we will take the games one after the other. We do not fear people, we are serious about returning to the country with the Cup,” he added.

The team was held to a one-all draw by Burundi in a friendly match on Tuesday 11th June.
