FIFA has appointed a normalization committee to run the affairs of Comoros’ Football Federation (FCF).
A statement from football’s world governing body explains the decision, saying it “has been taken in connection with the FFC electoral process, which has not been conducted in line with the statutory requirements applicable to members of FIFA.”
The normalisation committee’s mandate will include organising elections at all levels of FFC after revising the federation’s electoral code and code of ethics in order to ensure their alignment with the FIFA Statutes, regulations and requirements.
A joint FIFA and Confederation of African Football (CAF) mission will be deployed to Comoros soon to identify who should make up the new normalisation committee.
All members must pass an eligibility check to be carried out by the FIFA Review Committee.
The normalisation committee, which will conclude its mandate by 30 September 2020, will also act as an electoral committee and none of its members will be eligible for any of the positions in the elections.
Comoros national men football team, Coelacanths, will begin their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign away against the Hawks of Togo in November.
Comoros, who are in Group G alongside Egypt, Togo and Kenya, will then return to Moroni to host Egypt.
