FIFA Orders Congo to Pay Ex-Coach €474k or Face Sanctions

World football governing body FIFA, through its disciplinary committee, has given Congo Football Federation (FECOFOOT) 30 days to pay former head coach Sebastien Migne over €474,000 euros for breach of contract.

World football governing body FIFA, through its disciplinary committee, has given Congo Football Federation (FECOFOOT) 30 days to pay former head coach Sebastien Migne over €474,000 euros for breach of contract.

Further, the Disciplinary Committee also fined the FECOFOOT 9 million CFA francs as costs sustained in connection with the arbitration procedures as well as those of the proceedings, reports Adiac-Congo.

“The FECOFOOT must pay €20,000 euros in salary arrears and €454,000 euros as a ‘compensation for breach of contract’,” according to a letter sent by FIFA to both parties.

The FECOFOOT are expected to pay the fine by next month.

Appointed as coach of the Red Devils in March 2017, Migne resigned from his position just twelve months into his two-year contract citing lack of pay for five months.

His immediate task was to guide Congo through the first and second knockout rounds of qualification for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

But the Frenchman failed in the seven international games as he only managed to win one against Guinea Bissau.

FIFA could take yet to be specified sanctions against the federation including barring Congo from the 2022 World Cup qualifiers or a blanket ban from football.
