FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber has ruled in favour of TP Mazembe by confirming that Ben Malango remains their player, five months after giving him temporary transfer to feature for Raja Casablanca.
The Sports Manager of the Congolese club, Frederic Kitengie announced DRC’s decision on Thursday saying that the ruling recognises the 26-year-old forward as the Lubumbashi based club asset.
As reported by Footrdc, the decision means that Malango is doubtful for this weekend’s CAF Champions League clash against his former side as he still serves a running contract with the five-time African champions.
The frontman joined the Moroccans in July on a three-year deal but Mazembe lodged a complaint with FIFA in relation to the player’s transfer.
However, Mazembe are willing to listen to settle the matter with Malango and Raja before coming up with an amicable solution regarding the transfer.
In a tweet, Kitengie indicated that they will give Malango the blessing of playing again for Raja after the money they want from the transfer is duly paid for.
“FIFA recognizes the existence of the player’s contract with Mazembe and therefore the club reserves the right to accept or refuse compensation for violating transfer rules by Malango and Raja,” Kitengie said as translated from French.
Raja, as well as the player’s agent, maintain the striker was a free agent at the time of his transfer, and have essential documents to back it up.
