FINA World Championships: South Africa’s Chad Le Clos Wins Gold

South African swimmer Chad Le Clos reclaimed his 200m butterfly world title in Budapest on Wednesday night after clocking 1:53:33, ahead of Hungary’s László Cseh and Daiya Seto of Japan.

The South African could hardly contain his emotions on the podium and later took to Twitter saying, “Words cannot describe this moment. #humbled #redemption thank you, South Africa, we done it”

The 25-year-old will be looking to win another double, adding to the 100m and 200m butterfly double titles he won in Barcelona in 2013 to become the second man after Phelps to do so, come Saturday when he faces Olympic Champion Joseph Schooling in the 100m butterfly final.

His teammate Cameron van der Burgh, swam away with a bronze medal in the Men’s 50m Breaststroke final behind second-placed Jao Gomes Junior along with winner Adam Peaty, who made the podium for the sixth consecutive time.
