Five people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Liberian international’s parent.

The Chief of Press and Public Affairs of the Liberia National Police, Moses Carter, said the five have been kept in custody for more interrogation.

He said the suspects were alleged to have been found in possession of some property stolen during the incident and will face charges of capital murder and aggravated robbery.

The mother to Liberia international Theo Weeks who currently plays his club football in Cyprus for Arka Oroklini was found injured on Tuesday, April 9 inside her house with a deep wound under her arm.

Lydia Weeks was rushed by her neighbors to the ELWA Hospital where she was pronounced dead upon arrival by doctors who said that she died from multiple gunshot wounds.

The suspects arrested are Tito David, Robison Lawrenzo, Jah Walker, Amadu Dolleh and Alophonse Ega and alleged to have been found in possession of some property stolen during the incident.

The six are expected to appear in Margibi County to face trial having been arrested several days ago after police launched a manhunt for the killers.

Investigators said the defendants who were armed with shotgun, cutlasses, pin-bar and other deadly weapons entered the victim’s home and made their way into the house through the kitchen window.

Prosecutors from a special organized crime unit said the accused admitted voluntarily to the commission of the crimes of armed robbery and murder.

The court will rule on whether the accused persons will be released on bond or not.
