Five Espoir FC Escape Unhurt In Clubhouse Fire

Five Espoir FC players on Saturday escaped unhurt after a fire broke in one of the rooms at their club house unit.

Firefighters from Rusizi township fire department were called and the Rwanda Football League outfit says the players ,who reside in the facility, lost all their personal belongings.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown and the value of the damage at the burnt clubhouse is yet to be established.

Officials would not confirm the players affected by the fire.The club housed 26 players and all escaped unharmed.

“The fire destroyed about 20% of the room. Five players who were staying at the clubhouse are safe,” a source told Ducor Sports.

Espoir is one of Rwanda’s most popular soccer clubs and its clubhouse has a fully furnished kitchen, a chef, masseur, physician and psychologist.

The house also has a video hall for tactical analysis, a meeting hall, a library, secured parking and the club’s store rooms.

Espoir will return into Rwada Football League action on Thursday 15 September to face Mukura Victory at Cyangugu Regional Stadium. In Kamembe.
