Bafana Bafana have been boosted by arrival of three-Europe based players who joined camp in Durban as they prepare for their back-to-back 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sao Tome.
Dean Furman, Percy Tau and Montpellier’s midfielder Keagan Dolly joined the team training on Tuesday which was conducted by coach Molefi Nteski in incessant rainy conditions at People’s Park.
The three players were excused from joining the camp after their clubs pleaded with the South Africa FA to allow the players to play in their various league matches.
South Africa will host Sao Tome at Moses Mabhida Stadium on November 13, before facing the same side at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, as the away side, as Bafana look to take a big step towards taking control of qualifying group C.
During Tuesday’s training, Furman was withdrawn as a precaution a few minutes into the session but he is expected to go full throttle during Wednesday’s sessions.
According to South Africa FA website, Bafana will have two training sessions on Wednesday, 11 November – one in the morning and another one at 16h00 in the afternoon.
Rangers midfielder Bongani Zungu and USA based Kamohelo Mokotjo are expected to join the camp tomorrow camp after the quarantine period.
South Africa has had a number of withdrawals with Thibang Phete, Andile Jali, Abubakar Mobara, Thami Mkhize and Thulani Serero all out due to medical reasons.
The five stars have since been replaced by Musa Lebusa, Vincent Pule, Thapelo Morena, Tshepo Rikhotso and Thabo Nodada.
Bafana Bafana will be expecting to bag six points from the two matches that will give South Africa a stronghold for qualification for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.
