Former Chippa United Defender Frederic Nsabiyumva Finds New Club

Burundi international Fredric Nsabiyumva has joined Swedish lower league side VSK Fotboll, the club has confirmed.

The lanky centre-back was a free agent having been released by Chippa United at the end of the 2020/21 season before returning to his former club Jomo Cosmos.

Nsabiyumva left Cosmos in July following the Ezenkosi relegation and has now joined the Superettan outfit on a long term contract.

“I am very happy and I am looking forward to come to Europe and play, it is a dream I had. I’ve never been to Sweden, but I’m counting the days until I’m there,” he said.

The 27-year-old  defender had been in talks with French side Le Mans before VSK stepped in.

It had been hoped the deal for Nsabiyumva would be done on Monday but it was delayed waiting for a work permit.

It is anticipated he will now be part of the VSK squad that will travel to face IF Karistand on Wednesday 31 August.

Herman Ottoson, VSK’s Sports and Academy manager said; “In Frédéric we have got a player with physical abilities; big, strong and fast.

“He is particularly good at playing against wrong-facing players. He will join the team as soon as possible – what remains on paper is a work permit issued by the Migration Agency, which can take up to two weeks to obtain”.
