Former Djurtus assistant coach Romão Antonio dos Santos has written to Guinea-Bissau’s Ministry of Finance demanding his unpaid salary arrears.
Dos Santos is owed fourteen months salary and over ten match winning bonuses.
With his salary believed to 1.1 million CFA francs, the Guinea-Bissau Football Federation FFGB) must cough up 16 million CFA francs to settle him.
“Right now I have 14 months of overdue wages, in addition to 8 million CFA francs, while I was deputy to former coach Norton de Matos. I always visit the Ministry of Finance offices almost every week and no one even gives me justification on the matter,” Dos Santos told reporters on Thursday.
Ducor Sports sources understand that the letter was written by his lawyers and who want the payment to be done within ten days.
In an earlier interview with a sports radio station, Radio Jovem, on August 27, Dos Santos said that he requested the intervention of the FFGB but received a negative response from the body that runs national football.
“The federation sent me a letter in response to my request claiming that they are not responsible for the payment of my salaries,” Dos Saantos said.
“I have more than 10 letters to the Ministry of Finance and successive ministers, but to date I have received no response of the entity “, he added.
However, Santos says that he maintains a good relationship with the FFGB, but regrets the way he was treated for several years as part of the technical team of the national football team.
Former coach of Sport Bissau and Benfica, together with current coach, Baciro Candé, led the Guinea-Bissau team to participate in the two Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), in Gabon 2017 and Egypt 2019.
