Former Fulham midfielder Chris David is set to be on the lookout for another new job after Cape Town City decided to cancel his contract for an unknown reason.

David joined The Citizens last season on a three-year deal as a free agent following his release from Eredivisie outfit, FC Utrecht, at the end of the 2017/18 season.

However, City has decided to cut his stay with reports saying the midfielder has been unhappy over lack of playing time.

At times David was affected by injury, but there were also a number of players he could not get ahead of in the starting line-up.

The former English Premier League player has featured for clubs such as Go Ahead Eagles, FC Utrecht and FC Twente in his homeland.

The 27-year-old has also represented the Netherlands at the junior level, and it’s believed he is currently in Amsterdam where he is involved in negotiations for his clearance.

South Africans websites are reporting the midfielder will leave before the end of the current PSL season to free their books.

Cape Town City have already resumed training with David after the government announced PSL teams can return to the pitch amidst the coronavirus pandemic which has led to the suspension of the current season since March 2020.

City are placed 10th on the league standings, four points above 15th spot which is the relegation play-off spot currently occupied by Amazulu FC.
