Former Kenya FA President Nick Mwendwa Charged Afresh With Graft

Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa is set to be charged afresh with embezzlement of Ksh 38 million ($337,200).

The Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) stated on Thursday that they will charge Mwendwa afresh and introduce new evidence gathered against the former football boss.

“The case was expected to commence on 5th July 2022 but the prosecution could not proceed with the hearing following discovery of additional evidence availed by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations,” the ODPP said.

Mwendwa is currently held at a Nairobi Police station where he is being grilled ahead of a planned arraignment at Kiambu court.

He had been freed on Wednesday after the prosecution failed to present evidence in the matter.

The former FKF president is being investigated for allegedly transferring USD 850,000 from the FKF account to his personal accounts and authorising fictitious withdrawal of USD 290,000 from the federation’s account.
