Former Liberia national team head coach Philippe Redon has passed away at the age of 69.

Redon was rushed to hospital on Tuesday morning after collapsing at his house in Paris.

The news of his death was announced by his former club Stade Rennais on Wednesday morning in a tweet.

The Frenchman was appointed as Lone Stars coach on July 14, 2000 and his reign lasted until 2002 when he was replaced by ex-international Kadalah Kromah.

This was after six years after his stint as Cameroun national team head coach, where he replaced sacked Russian tactician Valery Nepomnyashchy.

Redon is remembered for helping Indomitable Lions to the 1992 African Cup of Nations semi-finals.

During his career as a footballer, Philippe Redon played for Stade Rennais, Red Star, Paris SG, Girondins de Bordeaux, FC Metz, Stade Lavallois, FC Rouen, Papeete, AS Saint-Étienne and US Créteil.

By the time of going to press, Liberia Football Association (LFA) was yet to officially comment on the demise of Redon.
