Ivorian international Yannick Zakri has re-signed for former club ASEC Mimosas on a free transfer, Ducor Sports can reveal.

The 29-year-old, a former Maritzburg United striker, returns to a side he left four seasons ago having signed a long-term deal.

Zakri had been without a club after being released by Jordanian side Al Faisaly after a stint in Iraq, where he featured for Naft Al-Wasat Sports Club.

He moved to Naft-Al Wasat after breaking ties with South Africa Premier Soccer League side Maritzburg United, a team that he had joined from reigning PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns prior to the start of the 2018/19 campaign.

Much was expected from the skilful player, who helped Sundowns reach the 2017 CAF Champions League knockout stages.

Zakri made 26 appearances across all competitions for the Team of Choice and he netted three goals.

However, his exploits did not help Maritzburg avoid finishing in the relegation play-off spot in the 2018/19 season.

He did not feature for the Pietermaritzburg-based side during the PSL promotion/relegation play-offs.
