Former Vipers Coach Lands New Job in Tanzania

Former Vipers SC coach Roberinho Oliveria Goncalves do Carmo also known as Robetinho has finally secured his next job.

The 62-year-old Brazilian has been named the new coach of Tanzania Premier League giants Simba Sports Club, just days after leaving the Ugandan club.

Juma Mgunda and Seleman Matola, a former member of Simba SC, will assist Robertinho.

Although the terms of the contract have not been made public, Ducor Sports has learned that Robertinho has signed a performance-based agreement that will keep him with the team through January 2025.

During his stay at Vipers, Robertinhio guided the club to 2022/2023 African Champions’ League group stages.

He has promised Simba Sports Club will make it to the African Champions League final for the first time in their history.

“I have been a player before becoming a coach, and I always believe in good plans. If you have good plans, you can reach the semi-finals until the final is also possible while I am here at Simba,” he told the press briefing.

“When I was at Vipers, when we were going to meet TP Mazembe, many believed it was the end of us, but we had good plans until we managed to get them out,” he added.

Robertinho has previously coached Kenyan Premier League side Gor Mahia FC, a position he left after it was discovered that he didn’t have CAF-certified papers.

The former Brazil international also had a stint in Rwanda with Rayon Sports where he resigned in October 2019 after the club failed to agree with his agent on salary.

He has also coached in Tunisia where he was in charge of Stade Tunisien and in Angola where he spent two seasons at Atlético Sport Aviação.
