Former Ethiopia and Adama City defender Moges Tandese passed on Thursday night after a long illness.

Former Ethiopia and Adama City defender Moges Tandese passed on Thursday night after a long illness.

Tandese, who was 26, played for the Black Lions for two seasons from 2015 to 2016, and also won six caps for Walia Ibex.

Adama City’s team manager Sisay Abraham confirmed to Ducor Sports that Tandese had passed away.

“Yes, he passed away last night,” Abraham told Ducor Sports. “He wasn’t well. It’s a very sad loss for Ethiopia football and the Adama family.”

The former Ethiopia Coffee defender started his career with Saint George and was promoted to the senior side by Serbian coach Milutin Sredojevic.

He later joined Sidama Coffee before being snapped by Adama City. His last professional contract was at Ethio Electric where he played a few matches for the club.

Tandese was forced to call time on his football career as a result of a chronic shoulder injury that kept recurring since his time at Adama City.

Ducor Sports sends out their heartfelt condolences to Tandese’s family, friends and the Adama fraternity.
