Bordeaux and Guinea forward Francois Kamano was at the center of attention at 2018 Nimba d’Or awards when he claimed two main awards as the Guinea Press Association honored last year’s top achievers in a Conakry Hotel on Saturday.
Kamano walked away with the night’s most coveted prize, Nimba d’Or. He also took home Best Guinean Athlete Playing Abroad award and in all two categories, he edged three-time winner Naby Keita, who turns for Liverpool.
“I am happy to be voted the best Guinea Player Abroad and the best Guinean Sportsman of the Year awards. I thank the organizers, my family and all my fans,” a joyful Kamano revealed after learning of his latest achievement.

The stocky man has been pivotal to Bordeaux’s ‘dream’ run in French Ligue 1, with his imposing command of proceedings in front for Paulo Sousa’s side, for which he has featured week-in-week-out.
The 22-year-old scored 11 goals in 25 games across all competitions for Bordeaux in just concluded season, which has seen him attract interest a lot of European clubs, including Southampton.
It is claimed that Kamano could cost up to £18 million, which would make him one of the most expensive signings in Southampton’s history.
From his time at Bastia, Kamano’s potential was there for all to see as he opened several chapters in history books. Remember that in 2014 he became the most expensive player ever sold by a French division three club.
