Gambia have plans of getting Saidy Janko to commit to them to beef up their quest to seal an AFCON berth this time around.

Belgian Tom Saintfiet, who manages the West Africans, is scheduled to meet the erstwhile Manchester United and FC Porto defender tomorrow.

Saintfiet is on a scouting mission with FA head Kabba Bajo ahead of their meeting with Gabon in 23rd March in Libreville.

The Belgian gaffer had hoped that he would be suing the new faces he has met in a couple of exhibition games he has lined up before CAF’s decision to move the Scorpions’ qualifier closer.

Born in Switzerland, Janko has been on Gambia’s radar since 2011 before his move to Manchester United. Since then, he had been indecisive over which of the aforesaid countries he plays for internationally.

Bajo and Saintfiet have already met Janko’s sibling Lerry, a 17-year-old left-back at FC Zurich on Saturday over starring for the Gambia in the future.

The right-back position remains The Scorpions’ sole problem with Dawda Ngum often patched in that role in the absence of first choice and an injured Simon Richter.

Janko is a regular with title-chasing Young Boys but his loan deal there elapses at end of the ongoing term.
