Ghana succumbed to a 3-0 loss to Algeria in a Pre-Afcon friendly played at Education City Stadium in Doha, Qatar on Wednesday.
Adan Ounas, Islam Slimani scored the first and third goal for the Algerians, with Ghanaian defender Jonathan Mensah putting the ball into his own net.
The Desert Foxes got off to the perfect start when Ounas slotted in a beautiful shot after dodging two Black Stars defenders.
Algeria continued to dictate terms after that and almost doubled their lead in the 19th minute when Ramiz Zerrouki broke through on goal, but he failed to beat Ghana keeper in a one-on-one.
The lack Stars continued to play second fiddle shortly before the half-hour mark, but were let off the hook after Thomas Partey hoofed a low ball into the area from Daniel Amartey way over the top.
Ghana tried to get back into the game and came close to scoring an equalizer in the 39th minute when Joseph Paintsil found space inside the box, but Rais M’Bolhi produced a great save to deny him.
The half ended with the Desert Foxes leading 1-0.
Ghana started the second half much better and almost pulled a goal back in the 51st minute when Gideon Mensah got onto the end of a low cross, but his close-range effort struck the woodwork.
In the 73rd minute, Algeria found their second after defender Jonathan Mensah scored into his own net in an attempt ot clear a cross from left wing.
Three minutes later the Desert Foxes put the result beyond doubt when substitute Ismail Slimani broke through on goal and produced a calm finish to beat Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, 3-0.
Ghana tried to find some consolation, but were unable to do so as the Desert Foxes cruised to a comfortable win.
