Ghanaian striker Michael Sarpong was left clubless after he was sacked by his club Rayon Sports.

The Rwandese club terminated the contract after the former Dreams FC and Liberty Professionals marksman was accused of insulting club president in public after a disagreement.

The club decided to end their relationship with the 24-year-old left-back after the Ghanaian became ‘cruel and arrogant’.

Earlier this year, Sarpong was linked with a move to Chinese second-tier side Changchun Yatai but the transfer plan fell through.

Ducor Sports understands that he slipped out of Kigali without informing Rayon Sports administration about his movement.

Sources close to the Rwanda club say that all players unanimously supported his decision to dismiss Sarpong.

Sarpong was instrumental in helping Rayon Sports win the 2018/2019 Rwanda Premier League where he netted 16 goals to emerge the top scorer.

Rwanda Premier League was put on hold on March 21 in the country’s effort to curb the spread of Coronavirus.

Only six match-rounds remained at the time of the suspension after the first case of the deadly virus was confirmed in the country.
