Ghana’s FA Deny Black Stars Being Stranded in Kenya

Ghana Football Association has denied rife reports of the Black Stars being stranded in Kenya.

Ghana Football Association has denied rife reports of the Black Stars being stranded in Kenya.

The interim FA’s reaction was prompted by claims made in the press in Accra suggesting national team players had been left to fend for themselves shortly after arriving, mentioning Naivasha as the city the stars are lodged in.

“We wish to state unambiguously that the said publications are a falsification of the bare facts,” the FA said in a statement

“First of all, the Black Stars team did not pitch camp in Naivasha and cannot be stranded in a city they have not visited. The technical team and the players that arrived Monday morning in Nairobi were bused from Jomo Kenyatta airport in Nairobi to a 5-star City Lodge Hotel.”

“Itineraries drawn to get the players to report to camp were done with the approval of each of the players and their respective clubs as well as the technical handlers of the Black Stars. Thus the assertion that flight tickets could not get to the players in time is untenable,” the dispatch read.

Kwesi Appiah’s side face Ethiopia this Sunday as they bid to catch up with the rest or top the group having played fewer matches.

They will, however, have to do without Inter Milan’s Kwadwo Asamoah, excused from the Ethiopia game on grounds of injury but shockingly surfaced to train with the Serie A giants this week.

The Ayew brothers of Andre and Jordan have joined the team’s camp as Kwese counts on his foreign-based contingent to sashay over their hosts.

The Black Stars occupy third place in the group equal on points with Sierra Leone, three points each.
