South Africa Premier Soccer League outfit Lamtonville Golden Arrows have announced that their player Nkanyiso Mngengwe has passed on.

South Africa Premier Soccer League outfit Lamtonville Golden Arrows have announced that their player Nkanyiso Mngengwe has passed on.

The 30-year-old has been with Arrows since 2013 having joined from Umngeni City Movers, and has to date played in over a 140 matches for the Premier Soccer League side.

The Kwazulu-Natal born player is reported to have died of natural causes though the club’s chairperson Mato Madlala failed to mention in the statement released early on Monday.

“I am saddened by the passing away of Nkanyiso Mngwengwe,” said Madlala in the statement.

“I remember when he first arrived at Arrows as a promising footballer, full of energy. He was always ready to fight for the team and acquitted himself well over the years.

“I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Nkanyiso’s family. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult moment,” concluded Madlala.

As a defender, Mngwengwe netted three goals and recorded two assists. He was in September 2010 honoured by the club for making 100 appearances in their colours.

The former Arrow captain was yet to feature in its line-up this season, and it was rumoured that he was on his way out the club at the end of last season.
