Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards have landed a new sponsorship deal with a gaming company, Bet High Kenya Limited.
The two clubs have been struggling financially following the exit of Sportpesa which withdrew its support in July last year.
Bet High Kenya Limited has now pumped a combined Sh95mn sponsorship for the period of three years under its brand name, BetSafe.
Gor Mahia are set to pocket Sh55m a year while AFC Leopards will get Sh40m in the deal that is expected to take effect in the subsequent months.
“We are happy to announce this deal with BetSafe. A very welcome message to all our fans that we have secured a long term financial support from a strong and safe partner. With Betsafe, we get an engaged and reliable partner with a focus on responsible gaming. But also a partner who shares our passion and values about football and excitement that comes with it,” says Gor Mahia chairman, Ambroise Rachier.
BetSafe will be entering the Kenyan market in the next couple of months and has made it a priority to support community football.
“We will be launching in the Kenyan market very soon and our top priority is to support Kenyan football. Being a responsible gaming provider since the very beginning we aim to bring more engagement and excitement together with Leopards SC in the near future”, says Tom Bwana, PR & Partner Manager at Bet High (K) Ltd.
At the same time, AFC Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda said the money will be a huge boost as they look to strengthen the team to be competitive next season.
“We are very proud to announce this new major deal with the Betsafe brand, especially to our fans. For us, this sponsorship means everything, as it gives us a sense of security, work and peace to be able to focus even more on becoming the best team in the country. With BetSafe, we have a reliable partner with strong focus on responsible gaming and passion for football”, says Dr. Dan Shikanda, Chairman AFC Leopards SC.
