Gor Mahia coach Hassan Oktay expects a different ball game altogether at Stade du 20 Août 1955 in a CAF Confederation Cup showdown.
K’Ogalo thumped their Group D counterparts NA Hussein Dey 2-0 last Sunday in Nairobi, but the Algerian outfit have an opportunity to revenge when they host the Kenyan side on Sunday evening (starting at 10:00pm E.A.T)
“I know it is going to be a very tough game because we saw from how they play in the first leg, they are not an easy team,” the tactician stated in an interview with CAF Online.
[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] “But we know we are playing away from home and it is important to get a result. In the least, I want us to get one point but I know we have the ability to go all out and win.” [/perfectpullquote]
K’Ogalo is perched on top of the group standings with six points from three games, followed by Hussein Dey and Petro Atletico who have four points each. Egypt’s Zamalek sits bottom on two points.
“We have done well so far in the three games we have played. We have improved game by game, step by step and I think we are at a place where our confidence is very high,” the tactician added.
The Kenyan has had a torrid away record and since their first return to continental football in 2008, the club hasn’t enjoyed victory away from home, the only time that happened was a 5-0 win away to Anse Re-Union and last year’s 3-2 victory over Yanga in Dar es Salaam.
“I don’t know about the past, but I am committed to seeing the team succeed in this game because it is very important,” Oktay noted.
The weather in Algiers is forecast to be partly cloudy, with a high of 22 degrees Celsius and a low of six degrees Celsius, meaning that neither rain nor mist is expected this afternoon.
