Gor Mahia Visit Magical Shrine

Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia have visited a shrine in Kanyamwa to honor the late magician and legendary Paramount Chief Gor Mahia Ogada, for whom the club is named after.

Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia have visited a shrine in Kanyamwa to honor the late magician and legendary Paramount Chief Gor Mahia Ogada, for whom the club is named after.

Source at the club say players and officials stopped at the shrine located in Homa Bay County, Western Kenya on Tuesday to seek blessings.

The shrine is where the legendary chief, who was believed to be having magical powers, was buried in 1922 at the age of 126.

The players and officials said “hola” to the group of fans as they arrived, and got a tour around the shrine that is near a giant tree that towers over his former homestead.

The team later met Turfosa Nyang’aya Okeche, the first grandchild of Gor Mahia, who is famous for giving hope to the club fans.

The Gor Mahia’s visit comes two weeks after the club was eliminated from CAF Confederation Cup by Zambian side Napsa Stars.

It’s not the first time that the club has been at the shrine as it first happened in 1987 just before they won the prestigious Mandela Cup the same year.

Gor Mahia are preparing to face Kakamega Homeboyz in their rescheduled FKF Premier League match that will be played in Bukhungu Stadium on Wednesday.
