Zamalek coach Christian Gross is confident his side can come from a goal down and snatch African Confederation Cup away from Moroccan side RS Berkane on Sunday in Alexandria.
The Egyptian club, who are thirsty to end a 16-year continental drought, need to score at least two unanswered goals to lift their first ever CAF Confederation Cup trophy.
The White Knights lost the first leg in Berkane last Sunday courtesy of a Kodjo Laba goal that came four minutes into the injury time.
“I’m very sad we conceded a goal right at the end”, said Gross.
“But we can come back and turn things around. We will fight to win the title for the sake of our supporters.”
The Cairo giants have won the lucrative African Champions League five times, only second to Ahly’s record of eight crowns.
The closest they have come in the second tier continental club competition was the semi-final in 2015 before bowing out to eventual champions Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia.
“I’m positive we can win in Alexandria. I promise our supporters we will give them something to cheer about,” concluded Gross.
Sunday’s return at the Borg El Arab Stadium will be played at 2345 local time (1945 GMT).
The winner is guaranteed $1.25 Million and $625,000 for the losing finalist.
