The president of Guinea-Bissau Football Federation, Manuel Lopez is being investigated for attempted murder, slanderous denunciation and defamation.

Guinea-Bissau’s Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions are looking into the cases filed by two former FA officials namely Carlos Teixeira and Adilé Sebastião.

According to a Portuguese publication, Bancada.Pt, the Director of Public Prosecutions says that police have recommended Lopez to be charged with attempted murder for drawing a pistol after being punched in the face by Adielo Sebastiao.

The police report says the attack left the complainant with deep cuts on the head and neck. The two are said to have argued over the transfer fee of an unnamed player which resulted in a physical fight on March 26, outside Lino Correia stadium in Bissau.

The prosecutions office has also recommended for Lopez to be charged with slanderous denunciation and defamation.

The FA boss is reported to have falsely accused Teixeria and Sebastiao of trying to undermine the national football team by allegedly informing Zambia (Guinea Bissau’s opponent in the 2019 Afcon qualifiers) that they fielded two ineligible players.

The cases are now being “independently reviewed and decisions thereon made shortly based on evidence and the law.”
