Guinea International Abdoul Camara has joined French top-flight side Guingamp just a day after cancelling his contract with Derby County by Mutual Consent.
The 27-year-old joined the Championship side from French top flight team Angers in the winter transfer window of 2016.
Despite the hype headlining the arrival of a top flight footballer in the Championship side, the player managed a disappointing 26 games scoring only once in the side’s FA Cup loss to Leicester.
He fell further down the pecking order after the sacking of former Derby manager Steve McClaren seeing even less chances coming his way. After making only one substitute appearance in three months, Camara mutually agreed with Derby to cancel his contract.
Nevertheless, it didn’t take long for the Guinean international to find a new club – within 24-hours of his previous contract cancellation – giving him a better deal with a better placed top side club.
Camara began his professional career with France and represented at the U-17, U-18, and U-21 levels before switching to Guinea as a senior for whom he has been instrumental for, scoring four goals in 12 appearances.
He has also played for French clubs Rennes, Sochaux, Greek giants PAOK, and Spanish side Mollorca.
His vast experience was under-appreciated in the Championship but with the proper management, Camara could salvage what is left of his career to grow into the star he is believed to be.
Guingamp who finished 10th last season, has already officially unveiled the extremely experienced player and confirmed he will wear shirt number 9 next season.
