Dynamo Houston star Teenage Hadebe is due to report for Zimbabwe national team duty on Tuesday head of the back-to-back 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Ghana.
The 26-year-old stands a good chance of being named in the starting lineup against the Black Stars as he is the only out-and-out left-back selected by manager Norman Mapeza.
Early, general manager national teams Wellington Mupandare had complained in the manner of approach hence the management’s resistance in releasing the defender.
“From the communication we have had with Dynamo Houston over the release of Hadebe, they have been very co-operative this time around. They have agreed to release him so he should be part of the squad for the two matches,” he said yesterday as per NewsDay.
Hadebe had missed the home clash against South Africa and away match against Ethiopia after his MSL club cited COVID-19 travel restrictions.
The former Kaizer Chiefs star joined Dynamo Houston as a Designated Player on a full transfer from Yeni Malatyaspor in Turkey’s Süper Lig in June.
The Bulawayo-born defender had switched to Malatyaspor after two seasons with Kaizer Chiefs in South Africa’s DStv Premiership from 2017-2019.
The left-footed defender led the Chiefs to the Nedbank Cup final in 2019 and tallied an assist in the 2-0 victory over Cape Town City in the tournament quarterfinals.
Hadebe also represented the South African side in the CAF Confederation Cup, earning four appearances through the second round.
He has earned 17 caps with Zimbabwe since making his debut as a 21-year-old in a 3-0 victory against Liberia in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
His last outing was a 90-minute shift in a 1-0 victory over Botswana on March 25 in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
