Uganda international Hashim Sempala has parted ways with Kenyan giants Tusker FC after six years of service.
According to the club’s official website, Sempala has left the club after the expiry of his contract.
Tusker thanked Sempala for his contribution to the club’s success since arriving from BUL FC in June 2016.
“We would like to confirm that our captain Hashim Sempala is leaving the club upon the expiry of his contract,” said Tusker in a statement.
“The midfielder said his final goodbye to his teammates after Tuesday morning’s training session.”
Tusker FC chairman Daniel Aduda has heaped praise on Sempala for his professionalism and commitment to duty.
“We want to thank Hashim for his services and what he has offered to the club. We had a mutual conversation where he informed us of his intention to seek greener pastures after the expiry of his contract and as a club we respected his decision,” said Aduda.
“He has served us diligently and we will forever be thankful for his work and contribution to the success of the club. He starred for us as we won the double double in 2016 and we have many other fond memories of his time with us.
“We wish him all the best in his career and his endeavors as well.”
Sempala was among the two non-Kenyan players who were turning out for Tusker the other being Rwanda international goalkeeper Emery Mvuyekure.
The midfielder took the KPL by storm after being given a chance to play in the country by Tusker in 2016.
Gor Mahia came knocking for his signature in April 2019 and the Brewers found the offer tabled by K’Ogalo too good to turn down.
His stay was short as he returned to Tusker after few months and was re-named the brewers captain.
Sempala managed five goals in 20 appearances for the Brewers this season, and its rumored that a dream move to Europe is cooking.
The Kampala University alumni started his career in his native Uganda where he featured for BUL FC, Uganda Revenue Authority and Express FC.
He joined Tusker FC in 2016 and won a double with the Kenyan side in the 2016 season – the KPL trophy and GoTv Shield
