Horoya AC coach Victor Zvunka has expressed confidence in his charges ahead of the team’s fifth CAF Champions’ League Group C match against AS Togo Port.
The coach, who will be without dependable forward Bassirou Ouedraogo through injury, further expressed his ambitions of making it to the next stage of the competition.
[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]“From the beginning my aim is to qualify for the quarters final. It is possible because almost all my players are working for it,”[/perfectpullquote]
said Zvunka as translated from French.
“With the current squad, I have the opportunity to line up maybe the best team that will play its all-out on this very important match.”
The HAC mentor knows well that they need a good result at home to take to the final fixture against Mamelodi Sundowns set to be played in Pretoria on August 28.
“We have to take the three points at home and then go win last match so as to finish this group first or second according to the results of others,” he explained.
Should Zvunka’s men win the two matches they will have a short-haul flight because they believe they will face TP Mazembe in the quarter finals.
The first leg quarter-final scheduled for the weekend of 14-23 September, so Zvunka is sure of getting second position in the group that has also Wydad Athhletic who are the defending Champions.
This of course could backfire for Zvunka as they have to make sure they win and also bank on Wydad beating Mamelondi Sundowns.
So far Horoya have failed to keep a single clean sheet in the Champions League group stages, conceding six goals, making their defensive frailties a concern.
