Horoya AC Fire Head Coach

Guinea champions Horoya AC have officially parted ways with coach Didier Gomes Da Rosa with immediate effect.

Guinea champions Horoya AC have officially parted ways with coach Didier Gomes Da Rosa with immediate effect.

The club’s president Soufiane Souaré has confirmed the development conveying resolution arrived at in a meeting held on Saturday where the club hierarchy decided to relieve the French tactician of his duties.

“There was a meeting on Saturday and it was agreed that Da Rosa leaves the club immediately,” said Souare.

Assistant coach Sekou Soumah Diego will now see the club through for the next few days before a replacement is appointed.

Da Rosa took over the reins of the team from Patrice Neveu in march last year, with his main aim being to ensure that the team makes it to the 2019/2020 CAF Champions League final.

However, the club exited the competition in the second round, having been eliminated by Algeria’s JS Kabylie, a result that might have decided the fate of the Frenchman.

Even though Horoya AC managed to make to the lower CAF Confederation Cup group stages, the management was reportedly not happy with the coach’s tactics.

The 50-year-old Gomes was previously contracted to Algerian side JSM Skikda before moving to Conakry giants.

Da Rosa has also coached several other African sides since his arrival in the continent in 2012 where he signed a contract with Rayon Sports of Rwanda before moving to Cameroon to join Coton Sport.

He moved to Algeria in 2015 where helped CS Constantine avoid relegation in his first season in charge.
