In a surprise to the football fraternity, Aristide Bance has decided to retire from professional football to concentrate on other things in life.

The news of the striker’s retirement comes as a shock a week after he announced his retirement from international football.

The Burkinabe striker joined Horoya in May, 2019 where he made the Guinean side the 22nd club of his nomadic career.

“I spoke to the club president (Soufiane Souare) and signified my intention to leave the club,” the 35-year-old forward said on his Instagram account.

“I expressed my gratitude to him, and told him of the good times I had at Horoya in domestic and African competitions.”

Bance started his professional career with Stade Abidjan in neighbouring Ivory Coast and went on to play in Belgium, Egypt, Finland, Germany, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Qatar, South Africa, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates.

Horoya are due to meet Pyramids FC of Egypt in a single-match semi-final of the second-tier Confederation Cup in Morocco on a date to be announced.

The winners will play a Moroccan side, Hassania Agadir or Renaissance Berkane, in the final for a $1.25 million first prize.

The Guinean giants are the only non-north African club to reach the semi-finals of a CAF club competition this season.
